Step 1
Preheat the oven to 160°C,140°C Fan, Gas Mark 3.
Step 2
Put the pork cubes in a large ovenproof casserole dish.
Step 3
Add the remaining ingredients, mix gently. Tightly cover with a lid or foil and cook in the oven for 2 hours, and cook until the meat is tender, stirring occasionally. If you prefer more sauce, add 50ml extra orange juice.
Step 4
Serve the hoisin pork with seasonal green vegetables and cooked rice of your choice.
This recipe works well with shoulder steaks too.
Slow Cooker version
Put the pork in the base of a slow cooker. Add the ginger, garlic, soy sauce 50ml orange juice, sugar, and hoisin sauce. Cook on HIGH for 4-6 hours or LOW for 8-10 hours or according to your manufacturers’ handbook. Serve with seasonal vegetables and cooked rice of your choice.
